Chair Yoga and Mindfulness with Lara Slattery

Advanced Yoga and Pilates instructor Lara Slattery will host a Chair Yoga and Mindfulness workshop on Monday the 7th of October in Cashel Library to mark Positive Aging Week. Lara is the founder of Sukha Wellness Cahir. She has been practicing yoga and mindfulness techniques since 2007 and is passionate about how beneficial they can be in changing people’s lives. The class will begin at 11:30pm and finish at 12:30pm. During the workshop Lara will demonstrate chair yoga techniques, breathwork exercises and mindfulness techniques.  

Chair yoga offers many benefits to those who are elderly, affected by mobility issues or even those who work at a desk for long periods of time each day. Seated yoga helps to strengthen balance, decreases stress levels, lifts mood and energises and improves cardiovascular health.  

Similar benefits have also been found in those who practice breathwork. This may help balance blood pressure, strengthen respiratory function, improve immune system, provide more time in a state of deep sleep at night and boost moods.
