Schedule For In – Person Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme Training Days Announced
The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue has announced the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme in person training schedule. According to data from the SCEP online training portal 46% of farmers who are part of the programme have already completed their compulsory training online in advance of the November deadline. When it was first launched the online training portal was criticised by some organisations including the Irish Farmer’s Association who felt that it excluded farmers who may not have been as tech savvy as others. Although they welcomed the decision by the Minister to hold in person training they stressed the need for this to be accessible for all farmers. This put pressure on the Minister for Agriculture to provide another option for participating farmers.
Speaking about the launch of in person training, Minister McConalogue said:
“Whilst the majority of SCEP participants will complete or have completed the training online, for those farmers who do not have internet access or the supports to access the online training, my Department is holding a number of in-person SCEP training events for those who wish to do the training in person rather than online.”
Several locations have been earmarked to host the in-person training days from September 30th to October 4th. A representative from the Department will present the training modules and the sessions will last for approximately 5 hours. Attendees must register before their preferred session and must sign in before the beginning of training and sign out once the training is completed. Photo ID will be checked on the day of training and participants are not permitted to send someone else to sessions in their place. All sessions will begin sharply at the time specified on the schedule.
