Community Power Open Day at Templederry Community Owned Wind Farm

On Sunday 2nd February Templederry Community Wind Farm, Ireland’s only community owned wind farm, is holding an open day to show communities around the country how they can set up their own solar and wind farms.  It is an exploration of the challenges, opportunities and financial rewards available. The day is being organised by Community Power, Ireland’s first community owned electricity supplier.

In what looks set to be a rerun on the Horace Plunkett cooperative movement, but this time in the energy sector, communities across the country are being invited to explore the setup of community owned solar and wind farms.  Thanks to the recent Government & EU support framework, and the financially successful Templederry Community Wind Farm model  – the time is opportune for communities, both urban and rural, to develop their own energy generation facilities and the revenues they create.

Generating over €1 million annually from it’s modest wind farm, the Templederry community are happy to share their knowledge, and assist any communities who would like to avail of the substantial revenue streams available in the renewable energy generation sector.

Become a part of the movement, and be the change you want to see

  • Save the planet – green energy
  • Strengthen the community
  • Promote the circular economy
  • And make a profit !
  • What’s not to like – about doing the right thing
