Tipperary Energy Agency Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Tipperary Energy Agency is delighted to announce its 20th year in business in 2018. The agency was established in 1998 as an independent social enterprise and was set up by Tipperary County Council and Tipperary Institute, now LIT Tipperary. From humble beginnings with just one employee, the agency is now a strong team of 24, and is nationally and internationally recognised as a leader in sustainable energy activity.
Speaking on this milestone anniversary, Paul Kenny, CEO said ‘We are extremely proud of our achievements over the last 20 years. Some of the stand out projects for me include, Templederry Community Wind Farm, which is still Ireland’s only community wind farm and produces enough electricity to power 3,500 homes. SuperHomes Ireland, our deep retrofit scheme, began as a pilot in 2015 and is now set to complete 75 houses alone this year. Our announcement in 2017 that European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting the implementation of Tipperary’s €37M investment programme in energy efficiency over the next 3 years is major news for Tipperary. This grant will continue to drive Tipperary’s energy projects and will substantially reduce fossil fuel use among hundreds of homes and businesses in the County”.
Tipperary Energy Agency is kicking off a calendar of events and celebrations where it will look back on its achievements and share its future plans for a Sustainable Tipperary over the course of 2018. You can check updates on tippenergy.ie
