The Source Arts Centre and See Change presents Box of Frogs – a revue of the mind

Fresh from a successful run in Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre in November 2012 and sell- out performance of the Mill Theatre Dundrum as part of the First Fortnight arts and mental health festival, See Change presents Box of Frogs at The Source Arts Centre this month.

Three people on stage, happy, successful, gorgeous! But there’s one thing they have in common. Each of these people has now or at some time in their lives experienced the torment of mental health problems.

Box of Frogs is a series of monologues performed by people who have first-hand experiences of struggling with their mental health. Every monologue somehow relates to our mental health, either through metal ill health such as depression, anxiety, stress and bipolar, or relationship difficulties, bereavement and loss, unemployment, bullying and suicide. Topical issues are stripped bare and addressed with a refreshing yet respectful approach.

Well known actress Mary McEvoy, comedian John Moynes and broadcaster Dil Wickremasinghe have teamed up to share their stories of personal experience with a mental health problem in a mixture of stories, comedy sketches and songs to de-mystify, debunk and ultimately have a laugh with what really goes on inside our heads. Following the show actors will head to The Source Café and re-join the audience for a Q&A session. Get up close and personal with the actors as they share honest first hand experiences, it goes without saying that mental health problems can affect anyone regardless of social tags such as nationality, gender or class. Not to be missed.
