Student Enterprise Awards 2009/2010 North Tipperary

Excitement is mounting,  as secondary school students across North  Tipperary put final touches to their projects  and exhibition stands for the Student  Enterprise Awards.  The county final will  take place on Tuesday next, 23rd March  in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh.   The exhibition is open to parents and  others to view the stands from 11.30  a.m. The Student Enterprise  Awards is a County & City Enterprise  Boards initiate designed to encourage students  to take a business from the idea  stage, through market research, production,  selling, record keeping, management and finally  writing a comprehensive report on their  activities.  At a local level, the  competition is organised by the Tipperary  North County Enterprise Board. Last year’s Senior winners  were Sarah Darcy, Emma Corbett and Clodagh  Connaire from St. Mary’s Convent Secondary  School in Nenagh.  Their teacher, Donal  Lenihan, said “the experience of entering  the competition was a wonderful learning  experience for the students”.  He went  on to say that they were so proud  to have won and to be able to  represent their county at the National  Final. Five schools and 120  students will be presenting their business  projects and displaying their products for  adjudication on Tuesday next.  There are  2 categories – Intermediate and Senior.   The winners will go forward to represent North Tipperary at the National Final  in Croke Park on 27th April.
