Nenagh Arts Centre Mosaic Workshop With Kay O’Donoghue

Mosaic Workshop

The ‘Mosaic Magic Workshop’ with Kay O’Donoghue is a free craft class which will be held by Nenagh Arts Centre as part of its Community Outreach Programme. This workshop will take place on Wednesday December 18th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

During the workshop participants will be taught how to create their own colourful tea light candle holder using ancient mosaic techniques. Mosaic art has been around for centuries. Rising to popularity in the Ancient Greek and Roman Empires it was used to decorate floors, walls and ceilings in many buildings. From the 4th century it became a common form of decoration on the walls of Christian basilicas. Mosaic designs consist of brightly coloured small tiles and pieces of stone which are cut, arranged in a pattern or shape, glued to a desired surface, typically a wall, ceiling or floor and sealed into place by grout.
