Minister for Rural and Community Development Opens Templemore’s New Library And Enterprise Centre

Department of Rural and Community DevelopmentMinister Heather Humphreys has visited Templemore to open the town’s new library and enterprise centre. This project involved the redevelopment of the Old Town Hall building into an ultra-modern library and enterprise facility. Project works were funded through the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund, a government fund under the Our Rural Future policy which provides investment to projects in rural areas with the aim of attracting more people to these areas for work, business and to live there. A sum of 3 million was granted for works on the library and enterprise centre from the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund and a further 1 million was also provided by Tipperary County Council for the redevelopment of the building.

Since it was first implemented the fund has provided financial assistance to fourteen projects across Tipperary with funding of almost 57 million granted across these projects.

Speaking at the opening of the new Templemore library and enterprise centre, the Minister for Rural and Community Development said:

“I am delighted to officially open the Templemore Library and Enterprise Centre project – a €4 million project in the centre of the town. With the support of over €3 million from my Department’s Rural Regeneration and Development Fund this project has brought a historic derelict building in the town back to life to provide a state-of-the-art new library and enterprise space for the community.”
