Cabragh Wetlands Winter Solstice Event
The Cabragh Wetlands are hosting a Winter Solstice Event tonight at 8pm. The Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year. In ancient times the solstice signalled the beginning of daylight hours and longer days. Early farmers celebrated the solstice which meant that they had almost weathered the long winter. The Winter Solstice is usually celebrated on the 21st or 22nd of December. On the day of the solstice half of the Earth is tilted away from the sun.
This event is free for all to attend, and everyone is welcome to celebrate the shortest day of the year in the beautiful surroundings of the Cabragh Wetlands.
