Tipperary Writer Receives Eason Novel Of The Year Award At An Post Irish Book Awards 2024
Tipperary native Donal Ryan has been awarded the prestigious An Post Eason Novel of the Year award for his latest work ‘Heart Be At Peace’.
The characters in this novel have been brought forward from his 2012 bestselling novel ‘The Spinning Heart’ however this novel can both be read alone or as a sequel. In this novel the times have changed from the dark recession period which was prominent in the first novel, the small-town depicted has recovered and its residents have seemingly buried the hatchet on their grudges and new stories have begun to emerge.
However, cracks begin to show in the serene lifestyles of these small-town residents when a new enemy threatens to disturb this peace and bring devastation to these townspeople. The young people of the town are attracted to money and a faster pace of life while the older members of the community are fighting to save the town from this invisible antagonist.
