The Regeneration Of Scohaboy Bog With Gearoid O’Foighil
As part of Science Week 2024, Nenagh Library are hosting a free talk with Gearoid O’ Foighil about the regeneration process in Scohaboy Bog. O’Foighil who is a member of the Cloughjordan Community Development Association, and he will provide details on the rewetting phases which took place at an area of just under 1,500 acres of bog and the conservation measures which were implemented.
The transition of Scohaboy Bog from peat harvesting for use in heating and burning to a conservation site has been widely supported by the community and not only has it led to the protection of biodiversity in the area, but the community has also benefitted from its support of the conservation efforts through the development of walking trails along the bog.
This talk will take place on Thursday the 14th of November from 10:30am to 12pm. Although the event will be free to attend, tickets must be booked in advance through the Eventbrite website
