Revolutionary Women of Tipperary by Noreen Higgins McHugh

On Wednesday December 18th at 6:30pm Clonmel Library will host acclaimed author and historian Noreen Higgins McHugh who will speak about her latest publication ‘Revolutionary Women of Tipperary 1914 – 1923′. Noreen Higgins McHugh is a Tipperary native who has gained prominence in the world of local history through the publication of her other books ‘Tipperary’s Tithe War’ and ‘Tracing Your Tipperary Ancestors’.

‘Revolutionary Women of Tipperary’ details masses of research into the lives of women who joined organisations such as Cumann na mBan during Ireland’s revolutionary period and whose contributions to the Irish War of Independence, the Civil War and the Truce are too often forgotten about or overlooked. Noreen Higgins McHugh’s book of research will delve into the lives of these women who fought for their country and the impact they had on the most explosive periods of conflict in Ireland’s history.
