The programme is catered to Transition Year students and will take place over the space of a week in the Law Society in Dublin in February 2025. The programme which features workshops led by industry experts, guest speakers, a careers seminar, courtroom activities and a mini mock trial.

The ‘Solicitors for the Future’ programme aims to provide a realistic experience into the Irish legal sector and the working world of solicitors in this country. Speaking about the programme, Barry MacCarthy, President of the Law Society said: The Law Society is delighted to offer the Solicitors of the Future programme again this year. Solicitors of the Future bridges classroom learnings and real-world practice, giving a valuable insight into working in the legal sector, and a rewarding career as a solicitor.

“The programme also shows how the law can be relevant to the daily lives of participants and promotes awareness of legal processes, constitutional principles, and values which underpin the rule of law in Ireland. These are essential learnings for all students, even to those who pursue careers outside of the legal system.

The programme is facilitated by professionals in the law sector, Law Society staff and trainee solicitors. To apply for the programme visit the Law Society website by the 6th of November 2024. Applications from Principals, Guidance Councillors and Transition Year Co-ordinators will all be welcomed. Places are limited and successful applicants will be chosen through a lottery process with priority given to DEIS schools.
