Clonoulty Rossmore Vintage Rally 2024 Raises 15k In Aid Of South Tipperary Hospice Movement
On Sunday September 1st, Clonoulty Rossmore hosted its annual rally and paid tribute to the iconic Volkswagen Golf which was celebrating its 50th Anniversary. In addition to this celebration of the famous vehicle, the event was staged as a fundraiser for the South Tipperary Hospice Movement. Vehicles flocked to Clonoulty village from across the country and from further afield with huge numbers of car enthusiasts paying homage to the Volkswagen Golf and supporting a worthy cause.
The day was a spectacular success, becoming one of the best attended rallies ever held in Clonoulty village. A plethora of vintage and classic cars, tractors, stationary engines and vintage memorabilia was put on display. Along with the vehicle display, the rally played host to over twenty trade stalls. There was something there for everyone with, trading, food stalls, amusements and live entertainment including performances from Aishling Rafferty, Killian Music group and DJ Francis.
For the sportsmen and sportswomen among the crowds there was also a range of events with a sheaf throwing competition held in honour of one of Clonoulty Rossmore rally’s late supporters Rory O’Dwyer. As well as this there was a competitive tug o’ war which saw women’s, men’s and junior teams all participate.
On October 5th, a representative from the South Tipperary Hospice Movement was presented with a cheque for €15,000 collected from the fundraising efforts on the 1st of September.
