‘Card Swap’ Event At Clonmel Library

Pokemon Trading Cards

Clonmel Library’s ‘Card Swap’ Event is returning on November 2nd at 11am. This event is ideal for all trading card enthusiasts. Traders will be given the opportunity to swap cards from Pokémon and Match Attax or any other trading card sets.

Pokémon Cards have been around since they were first introduced in 1996. These cards feature creatures called Pokémon and each card lists a range of attributes that each Pokémon has available to them. Players can use these cards to battle each other in a two-player game of strategy. The player with the strongest set of cards will be the winner. The most common character in Pokémon cards is Pikachu with over 197 variations of Pikachu cards released to date. The rarest and most expensive Pokémon card is also a Pikachu card. The Pikachu Illustrator card set has been known to contain cards valued between $900,000 and $2.75 million.

Match Attax is based on a similar premise to that of Pokémon. Collectors can buy packs of cards which have mystery cards inside. These cards contain the names and photographs of Champions League and European League players. Each card has a player rating with some being rated more highly than others. Games can be played where these cards are pitted against each other and the strongest card wins. One of the rarest cards in the Match Attax sets is the Lionel Messi – 100 Club card. These cards are valued based on the type of card, for example gold edged cards are more sought after than regular cards.

Clonmel Library’s event is open to everyone and is free to attend with no booking required.
