The Rose and The Rebel Songs – 2024 Tipperary Rose Gives Lecture on Irish Rebel Ballads at The Cabragh Wetlands
Tipperary’s 2024 Rose, Tara Brady will present a lecture titled ‘Let the People Sing’ on Irish rebel ballads at a fundraiser in the Cabragh Wetlands. Tara has a masters degree in History and Heritage for which she researched the importance of rebel songs in Ireland and their role in Irish people’s understanding of our historical past. In her lecture Tara will examine the history of these songs as well as their recent revival in this country.
The fundraising event is being held to raise money for the Cabragh Wetland Sustainability Project. Other speakers on the night will include Jimmy Duggan, John G O’Dwyer and Liam O’Donnochú. ‘Let the People Sing’ promises a night packed full of thrilling music and song. Entry to the event will cost €10 with all proceeds going to the Cabragh Wetlands Sustainability Project. The lecture will be held in the Cabragh Wetlands Visitor Centre on Wednesday October 2nd and will begin at 7:30pm.
