Clonmel Library Hosting ‘Summer Stars – Right to Read’ Awards

Summer Stars Reading Programme On Saturday, September 28th at 10am Clonmel Library will be hosting an awards ceremony for young people who took part in their ‘Summer Stars – Right to Read’ Programme. 

The Right to Read Programme was founded to promote reading and learning among young people nationwide. This national programme includes four sub programmes ‘Summer Stars’, ‘Spring into Storytime’, ‘Children’s Book Festival and ‘Family time at your library’.  

The Summer Stars Programme runs between the middle of June and the end of August. Children are given a Summer Stars Reading Card to track their reading progress over the summer months. When they have completed this free reading programme children receive a certificate to mark their achievement, and a special medal is also awarded to those who participate.  

The Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr Michael Murphy, will present awards to the children who have participated in the Summer Stars programme with the first 200 participants receiving a special prize bag with their medal and certificate. The ceremony will finish at 12:30pm once the awards have been presented.
