Return your plastic bottles and cans for charity at this year’s Electric Picnic!
Re-turn operators of Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme are encouraging attendees of the Electric Picnic music festival (August 16th –18th) to donate their plastic bottles and cans on site in aid of the ‘Return for Children initiative’. The ‘Return for Children’ charity initiative aims to raise money for six of Ireland’s national children’s charities – Barnardos Ireland, Barretstown, Childline by ISPCC, Make – A – Wish Ireland, LauraLynn Children’s Hospice and Jack & Jill.
Designated Re-turn bins will be located throughout the festival grounds giving festival goers the opportunity to donate their beverage container deposits to charity or get a voucher. If attendees choose to receive a voucher, there will be Reverse Vending Machines near the bar areas where attendees can receive their vouchers.
Attendees of Electric Picnic are being urged by Re-turn to ensure that plastic bottles and cans are kept separate from regular rubbish so they can be donated, all donatable containers should be completely empty, caps should be left on plastic bottles for donation, cans and bottles should not be crushed as this may prevent the return machines from reading barcodes and return symbols on drinks containers and finally drinks containers should not be discarded in other bins as this results in the loss of your deposit and wastes valuable resources.
Speaking about the initiative and partnership with the Electric Picnic Festival, CEO of Re-turn, Ciaran Foley said: We are delighted to be a part of the Electric Picnic experience this year and work with Live Nation in offering attendees the option to donate to our very worthy charity initiative Return for Children.
“Our Re-turn donation bins and Deposit Return Points give attendees an easy and convenient way to donate or return their empty cans and plastic bottles. The separate disposal of these drinks containers means not only are festival goers recycling optimally but they can also benefit six incredible children’s charities if they wish.
“Re-turn will also have a designated stand in the Electric Picnic arena area, providing visitors with the opportunity to chat with the team and learn about the Deposit Return Scheme’s benefits and positive impact on energy, water, landfill, and CO2 savings.”
