Medieval Stonework to be Showcased This Sunday in Cahir
This Sunday, August 18th, to mark Heritage Week 2024 Cahir Tidy Towns have organised a series of events based around the town’s ancient medieval history. Home to one of the country’s most well-known medieval castles, Cahir is also awash with medieval stonework which will play a big part in the events to mark Heritage Sunday. These events will begin at 1pm and finish at 4pm.
The first event will demonstrate the age-old craft of stone and tin carving. Master stonemason Philip Quinn will present this exhibition on the art of medieval carving in the Inch Field (E21 P652) in Cahir. An interactive talk will then take place providing interesting insights into the medieval stonework around Cahir with a specific focus on the statue of Fionn McCumhaill in Cahir Car Park and bringing to life stories from the town’s rich history.
These events are free to attend and will be sure to deliver a fun-filled and interesting experience for the whole family.
