Minister Kieran O’Donnell announces funding approval for Minor Flood Works & Coastal Protection at Templemore, Co. Tipperary
Minister of State responsible for the Office of Public Works, Kieran O’Donnell announced the approval of an application submitted by Tipperary County Council to receive funding for works in Templemore.
The purpose of this scheme is to provide Local Authorities with funding to carry out minor flood mitigation works or studies, to address localised flooding and coastal protection issues. The funding is generally provided in areas where solutions can be readily identified and dealt with in a short space of time.
The funding granted under the Office of Public Works, Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme will be used for proposed works at Blackcastle Road, Templemore, Co. Tipperary AF3544. Tipperary County Council received an additional fund of €181,000 bringing the total funding received for this project from the OPW to €279,100. Work to be completed will include adding a 6m culvert beside an existing bridge, raising the road and widening the existing channel.
