Fethard hosts first ever ‘Junior Park Run’
Parkrun Ireland in conjunction with the VHI are hosting several park run events across Tipperary. These events are held in various locations across the county and take place weekly. Locations in Tipperary that are currently hosting weekly park run events include Borrisokane, Templemore, Fethard, Knockanacree Woods and Clonmel. These park runs take place every Saturday at 9:30am and are free to attend. Sign up is essential before attending these events. Each run is 5k in length and is open to all fitness levels. When participating you are free to “walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate”. Parkrun Ireland have recently expanded their events to include specialised events for children. The Junior Park runs initiative was launched in Fethard Town Park on the 9th of June 2024. The junior event takes place over a shorter distance of 2km and caters for 4 –14-year-olds, providing them with a safe and fun environment in which to enjoy exercise.
