Tipperary is a county that is not only known for the musical talent it has produced over the years with acts such as Una Healy, Shane MacGowan and Máiréad Nesbitt all hailing from the Premier County, but Tipperary has also in more recent times become known for its array of popular annual music festivals. Some of the most popular being, When Next We Meet, The Clancy Brothers Music and Art Festival, The West’s Awake, Liberty Music Festival, Cut Loose Country Music Festival, Devil’s Bit Music Festival and The Hoolie in the Hills which will all take place over the coming months.
When Next We Meet
When Next We meet was developed to create connections between artists and their audience through an artist-led festival. This festival aims to further cultivate independent and alternative Irish music and to encourage the creation of memorable experiences for audiences. Set in the grounds of Raheen House in Clonmel, the festival will take place over the course of the June Bank Holiday 2024. Raheen House can be located on google maps using the Eircode – E91 AC82. Tickets for this event are available on Eventbrite – When Next We Meet at Raheen House Tickets, Clonmel | Eventbrite and are priced at €38.52 plus booking fee. This year’s line-up includes Ye Vagabonds, Susan O Neill, Cormac Looby, Bell X1, Rachael Lavelle and The Line.

The Clancy Brothers Music and Art Festival
Based on Irish music legends ‘The Clancy Brothers’ this festival will take place in various locations around their birthplace Carrick on Suir between May 29th and June 2nd this year. The festival will feature performances from Carrick on Suir Musical Society, Emer Dunne, The Clancy Family and the music of the Clancy Brothers and their collaborators. Workshops and a Pub and Art Trail will also be held in various locations throughout the town during the festival. This year will be the 17th annual Clancy Brothers Festival. The West’s Awake
The West’s Awake music festival is quickly becoming one of the county’s most popular music festivals with crowds from all over Tipperary flocking to Clonoulty for the festival which first started in 2016. Since it started, the festival has grown from strength to strength, being held every year in the local GAA grounds on the June Bank Holiday with the exception of two years in the pandemic. This year the festival will take place on the 2nd of June in the Dillon Quirke GAA Grounds in Clonoulty – directions are available on Google Maps – Eircode E25 CK44. It promises to be an entertaining day of craic and ceol featuring a stellar line up with acts including The Papa Zitas, Johnny Brady, All Folk’d Up and Rebel Hearts. Gates will open at 12:30pm and the event will finish at 7pm. Tickets are priced at €30 plus booking fee and all under 14’s go free; however, they must be accompanied by an adult. Ample parking will be provided. This event will be one you won’t want to miss.
Liberty Music Festival
This 2-day festival will take place this year on July 6th and 7th. Featuring Ireland and the UK’s most popular tribute acts of some of the world’s most famous performers the event is sure to sell out quick. The festival will be held in Thurles Town Park and attendees should note that it is a standing only event. Parking for camper vans and motorhomes will be available in Thurles Gaels GAA Club but will only be available to those who have a weekend ticket. Tickets are priced at €17 for a day ticket and €27.50 for a weekend ticket and are available to purchase at – Tickets.ie Ireland – Tickets.ie – Booking Tickets for Event. Tribute acts performing will pay homage to artists including – Queen, Madness, David Bowie, Tina Turner, George Michael, ABBA, Fleetwood Mac, Bon Giovi, Oasis, Thin Lizzy and countless more.
Cut Loose Country Music Festival
Cut Loose has been held in the village of Holycross since 2011 and plays host each year to throngs of country music fanatics. This years’ festival will take place on the 14th of July in Holycross GAA grounds – Eircode E41 T2F4. The Cut Loose Country Music Festival 2024 has a star-studded array of country music stars with Ceol, Michael English, Derek Ryan, David James, Louise Morrissey, Claudia Buckley, Muriel and Fran, The Conks and Stacy Breen all performing. Tickets are available on Tickets.ie Ireland – Tickets.ie – Booking Tickets for Event and are priced at €30. The organizers of the festival have recommended that people purchase tickets online in advance of attending as it is possible that tickets won’t be available on entry judging by demand seen in previous years. Under 12’s can enter for free. Gates will open at 11am, the music will begin at 12:30pm, and the festival will end at 8pm. Festival goers will be provided with a full bar and food services, free parking, a dance floor area, picnic area, and ample seating. All country fans will be grabbing their Stetsons and heading to Holycross for what “promises to be the festival highlight of the year.”
Devil’s Bit Music Festival
The Devil’s Bit Music Festival mixes music with the scenic view of the Devil’s Bit. The festival this year will take place on the 28th of July in Killoskehane, Borrisoleigh – Eircode E41 W896. Promising a day of great memories and great entertainment, the festival will run from 1pm until 10pm. A range of acts from the most well-known tribute bands to local talent will perform throughout the day. Acts performing include – Coldplace, Pogueology, Silver Dollar, Jester, Eoin Ryan, James McGrath, Lorcan Kennedy and more. The Hoolie in the Hills
The Hoolie in the Hills will this year celebrate its second anniversary. The festival will be held in Upperchurch village – Eircode E41 YX40 on the 3rd and 4th of August. The line-up for the festival this year has not yet been released and the tickets have also not yet been put on sale. Last year the festival tickets were available on Eventbrite and at the gate on the day. The previous festival was strictly an over 18’s event and under 18’s were only permitted with a valid ticket when accompanied by a ticket holding adult. A full bar and food were provided at last years’ event so the same can be expected this time around. Attendees should be warned that no bags bigger than A4 or deck chairs were permitted. If last years’ festival is anything to go by the line-up should be one of the best around.
