Fogarty’s Shop Thurles Closing After 70 Years
Fogarty’s Shop on Parnell St., Thurles is closing After 70 Years in business.
“The shop has been in the family since the fifties and, following the passing of our father Tommy in 1996, Josie continued the business.
We are very grateful to all in Thurles and beyond for their kind custom over the years. We will especially miss serving our neighbours, the other Parnell Street and local traders, regular customers, and close friends. It was also a privilege to facilitate the work of community groups like the St. Vincent de Paul Society. We want to thank all of our suppliers, both local and national, who have supported us. We are also thinking of all who have worked in the shop over the last seven decades, there have been many, they remain lifelong friends.
“Thanks for your kind messages for Josie on her retirement. It is with regret that we are closing our door for the final time after nearly 70 years on 31st July at 7 p.m. We will have great memories of match days, Féile, and all of the schools. As well as selling our famous Valley Ice Cream cones, having the “coldest drinks in town” and, of course, “no-one does penny sweets like Fogartys”.
We have a collection box instore until 31st July to fundraise for the great work of the Community Hospital of the Assumption or idonate.ie/crowdfunder/FTHOA. We would greatly appreciate your support. The Fogarty family”
