Internationally renowned Carducci String Quartet At Nenagh Arts Centre
The internationally renowned Anglo-Irish Carducci String Quartet has performed everything from brand new quartets, classic works by Haydn, complete Shostakovich cycles, and even collaborated with folk-rock icon Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull and on Friday 11th March at 8pm you’ll be able to catch them performing live at Nenagh Arts Centre.
The Quartet which includes violinists Matthew Denton and Michelle Fleming, violist Eoin Schmidt-Martin and cellist Emma Denton will perform a programme including Cormac McCarthy’s crossover jazz-classical quartet, Ravel’s ground-breaking 1903 quartet itself holds the seeds of early jazz music and the concert will open with yet another masterpiece from the pen of Josef Haydn.
Founded in 1997, the quartet has won numerous international competitions, including Concert Artists Guild International Competition 2007, First Prize at Finland’s Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition 2004 and a 2016 Royal Philharmonic Society Award for their presentation of the complete catalogue of Shostakovich Quartets.
Described by The Strad as presenting “a masterclass in unanimity of musical purpose, in which severity could melt seamlessly into charm, and drama into geniality″, the Carducci Quartet is recognised as one of today’s most successful string quartets. They are regularly broadcast on the BBC and have appeared at a host of prestigious venues worldwide including National Concert Hall, Dublin; Tivoli Concert Hall, Copenhagen and Carnegie Hall, New York.
