€188,971 allocated to Tipperary under Community Enhancement Programme: 2020 Fund For Community Centres And Community Buildings
On 10th of August Minister Joe O’Brien today launched a €5m grant fund for Community Centres and Community Buildings. The press release showing the allocation to each Local Authority area is available on the following link, https://www.gov.ie/en/ Tipperary has received an allocation within this budget of €188,971. Minister O’Brien said: “This €5 million funding will provide capital grants to help improve community centres, and other community buildings and facilities. These important facilities operate at the heart of each community. They provide activities and services that help strengthen the bonds that tie communities together and they provide valuable services to the people in their area.” It is targeted at measures that seek to stimulate local economies, while enhancing facilities in disadvantaged areas. The fund will be administered by LCDCs in a manner consistent with previous iterations of the CEP. The €5m funding is separate to the €2m funding under the 2020 Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) which was launched on 22nd June. What projects are eligible for funding? Funding could fill in gaps in Local Authority funding and make particular projects viable or improve them. Funding could be applied to speed up and improve projects already identified i.e. those in planning stage or ready to implement. The following provides a non-exhaustive list of capital projects that could receive funding under the programme: Target groups The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 4th of September. All grant group applicants must be a member of Tipperary PPN www.ppntipperary.ie and notification will issue by Tipperary PPN to all registered Community and Voluntary Organisations in Tipperary of this grant opportunity.
