Enterprise Support Grant for non rate payers welcome- McGrath
Independent TD Mattie McGrath has welcomed the announcement of an Enterprise Support Grant which is to be made available to Small Business Owners and the Self Employed who do not pay commercial rates.
Deputy McGrath who had repeatedly raised the lack of supports for businesses who are not liable for commercial rates but who have other huge overheads and the difficulties they were encountering as they tried to re-open their businesses,
“We are talking about mobile businesses, tradespeople, charity shops and other such businesses who are exempt from commercial rates and as a result were not entitled to the previously announced restart grant. Many of these businesses would have very large insurance costs, loan repayments for essential equipment and other fixed overheads and have been unable to trade for a number of months.” said Deputy McGrath
“Many businesses owners had contacted me questioning how they would repay their loans and meet their insurance costs following months of closure. I have brought these concerns to government and I am pleased that they have listened and have now announced a grant of up to €1000 to support these businesses. It is not massive, but it is at least something to help meet these overheads.” Concluded McGrath
Full details of how to apply will be released in the coming weeks.
