83 Year Old Thurles Woman Climbing Mountains for Charity

Picture shows 83 years young great-grandmother from Thurles, Chrissie O’Meara, on the summit of Mount Brandon as she raised funds for the Suirhaven cancer victims charity. She is pictured with her great friend Josie Maher and the youngest climber on the day Ellie O Dwyer, Carrick-on-Suir. The next fundraising event for Chrissie takes place from Friday to Sunday, October 11 to 13 when she heads off to Clifden. The event she will be supporting is the 21st annual Autumn Charity Challenge and there are walks on offer to suit every fitness level.

There will be guided walks in the Maumturk Mountains and the Twelve Bens, along with easier outings on the Maumeen Pilgrim Path, in the Connemara National Park and on Inishbofin Island. The cost is €199 which includes accommodation and breakfast on Friday and Saturday and dinner on Saturday evening in the 4-star Stationhouse Hotel, Clifden. A deposit of €60 secures your place.
