Lough Derg RNLI welcome Coastal Review Team in Dromineer

On Wednesday 3rd July 2019, the Coastal Review Team from RNLI Headquarters in Poole travelled to Dromineer to meet with volunteers from Lough Derg RNLI for a formal review of the lifeboat station.


The coastal review takes place every five years and is designed to discuss the operation and performance of the RNLI lifeboat station on Lough Derg.

Lifeboat Operations Manager Liam Maloney welcomed everyone to the meeting which was well attended by the volunteer crew, management and fundraisers. The proceedings were led by George Rawlinson, RNLI Operations and Safety Director .


The meeting provided a positive opportunity for crew to provide feedback, to raise any issues and to discuss possible improvements to the provision of our lifesaving service.


Commenting after the meeting, Liam Maloney said ‘Lough Derg Lifeboat Team were satisfied with the coastal review and pleased to be assured that the RNLI are progressing plans for a new station to improve on shore facilities for all our volunteers. We appreciate the RNLI’s continued investment in life saving on the lake’
