Volunteering Fair Comes to Cahir this Month
Tipperary Volunteer Centre are delighted to be able to bring this year’s Tipperary Volunteering Fair to Cahir Community Hall on June 25th between 10 am and 2 pm. Members of the public are encouraged to come and meet their local community groups and see what services and volunteer roles are available. It is a free event and open to all.
Following on from the success of last year’s Fair in Nenagh, this free half-day event will provide community-based organisations with the opportunity to showcase the great work they do and promote their services and volunteer opportunities within their organisations.
Tina Reilly, Placement Officer of Tipperary Volunteer Centre said; ‘it will be a fantastic way for people who are interested in getting involved in their communities to learn about the volunteer opportunities available and how to get involved.’
‘Volunteering plays an invaluable role in society and has a huge impact on community life. Volunteers are the backbone of any community group and its often the case where organisations depend solely on volunteers to provide their services. It is not only a way to give back to your community, it also has so many benefits to the volunteer themselves such as positive mental and physical health, gaining valuable skills to boost career prospects and of course to have fun and socialise’
‘There will be a wide variety of volunteer roles available to suit people’s own busy schedules. We would encourage people to come along and speak to the volunteer involving organisations, find out about the great work that they are doing and see how you can get involved’ said Tina.
Tipperary Volunteer Centre manager, Derek Fanning said that he would encourage community groups and agencies in the community and voluntary sector to exhibit at the event. It will be a great opportunity for building capacity, networking and sharing information.
“Community organisations will have the opportunity to showcase what they do, recruit new volunteers, celebrate their current ones and network with other groups. Space will be provided for groups to set up a stall once they register beforehand” Derek said.
Organisations need to register to set up a stall, but members of the public can just arrive on the day. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided to groups. To register your community group/organisation or for more information please contact Tina Reilly by June 20thon 086- 0418019 or e-mail tina@volunteertipperary.ie
