Demonstration at the Templemore College of Further Education raising awareness for funds for fees

Students at Templemore College of Further Education have been demonstrating to highlight the financial difficulties that students face. Students are finding it an extremely challenging time. Some students are on the Back to Education Allowance of €198, while some don’t get anything to survive. The students believe “Equal Rights to Equal Payment”.

Student’s from Templemore College along with help from local TD’s Jackie Cahill, Micheal Lowry and Seamus Healy.

While the Back to Education Allowance is only for mature students, the allowance is so low it keeps students in poverty!

The students want “Equal Rights to Equal Payment” which would mean for each individual to receive €198 regardless of individual living circumstances / parents etc. The students wonder “what’s the point having teachers in colleges if students can’t afford to go there. We want to get off the live register, pay taxes and contribute to society.”
