New Book by John G O Dwyer to be launched in Upperchurch
John G O’Dwyer has over 30 years’ experience of hillwalking and leading groups in the Irish uplands and is now best known as an author and writer for the Irish Times. His latest book is a guide to the Galtee, Knockmealdown, Comeragh and Slieve Bloom Mountains, which also includes walks in the Slievefelim, Arra and Silvermine Hills of North Tipperary. The book contains all the necessary practical information such as maps, directions, the degree of difficulty and estimated duration.
But this is more than just a walking guide. Each description attempts to get beneath the skin of a landscape littered with historic artefacts to tell a story. The guidebook should appeal to committed hillwalkers and casual ramblers alike, as well as containing much of interest to anyone who wishes to better understand the age-old interaction between humans and hills.
The book will be launched by Niamh Kinnane on Thursday, May 31, at 8.30pm in Kinnanes of Upperchurch. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Jim Finn, Tipp FM. The event is open to all and everyone will be made most welcome.
