The Rediscover Of Ireland’s Pilgrim Paths
In 2012, Thurles man, John G O’Dwyer walked Ireland’s almost forgotten
penitential trails when researching his book titled, Pilgrim Paths in
Ireland. Since publication of this book, which is now in its third reprint,
there has been a huge increase in footfall on the ancient penitential trails
of Ireland.
In an illustrated talk, by invitation of the Sr Aine Historical Society,
Templemore, John G will recount his journey through the mystical heartland
of Ireland from Slemish in Antrim to Skellig Michael in Kerry and recall
some of the interesting and amusing people he encountered along the way. He
will also speak about the growth of local tourism which can follow from the
re-awakening of these ancient trails. The venue for this event is the
McCauley Centre, Templemore on Thursday, December 14, at 8pm.
