Test Copy At The Source Arts Centre
Roseanna Purcell is an award winning actress, hailing from Littleton. She attended UCC studying Drama and Theatre before going on to train full time as a professional actor at The Gaiety School of Acting. As well as being a professional actor Roseanna is also a singer and musician. She is currently a member of Discovery Gospel Choir; Ireland’s leading intercultural choir and plays both violin and piano. Test Copy is the first full length that she has written and The Source Arts Centre is delighted to have Roseanna back on home turf in January.
The play follows Louise Fennessy, a Transition year student in St. Catherine’s Convent Secondary School which hosts over 700 female students in total. This isn’t an examination of the well-known quiet, country life but rather of the untempered frenzy of youth and the struggle to stand out, for reasons good or bad, amongst a melting pot of peers and diverse personalities. Through Louise, we experience the school’s explosive environment, where a culture of organised fights provides the on-site entertainment and the roughest of reputations instils respect.
Roseanna’s theatre credits include Signatories (Kilmainham Gaol + Olympia Theatre), Traitor (That Lot, Tiger Dublin Fringe), The Unsung Hero (Theatre Upstairs), Schooled (Scene&Heard Festival of new work), AnnaBellaEema (Rough Magic Seeds), The Windstealers (Eccles Theatre, Tiger Dublin Fringe), The Bridge Below The Town (Livin’ Dred Theatre Company), War Of Attrition (Devious Theatre Company; Dublin Fringe Festival Best Female Performer Nomination), Beyond The Brooklyn Sky (Red Kettle Theatre Company).
Tickets are now on sale for Test Copy which will be showing for one date only at The Source. Book now to avoid missing it and come along and show your support for local home grown talent. Test Copy is written & performed by Roseanna Purcell, directed by Pat Kiernan and produced by Nenagh Arts Centre with support from Tipperary Arts Office.
