North Tipperary Macra

On Friday night last we held our annual titles night in Reidy’s Bar Newtown. We had a fantastic night as we picked our representatives for the 4 personality competitions for 2017. Thank you to Bobby Reidy and his staff for letting us host our night in his fine establishment. Both Grainne Harrington and Kevin Troy did a great of organising a superb night.

Thank you also to our MC Una Ryan for interviewing our contestants and to our three judges Noel Duffy, Declan Ryan and James Healy for the very hard task of picking our winners.

Operation transformation continues with our weekly walk on Wednesday evening starting at Stereame Industrial Park at 7:30pm. All are welcome to join us. Weigh day is Thursday, results to be sent to Liz on Best of luck to everyone taking part.


Nenagh Macra


Titles night was held on Friday night last. Well done to everyone who participated from our club. Congratulations and best of luck to Kevin Troy from Nenagh Macra who will represent the county in the Mr Personality festival in a few weeks’ time in Kilkenny. The festival will take place in the Springhill Kilkenny on the 7th and 8th April.  Kevin will do the club proud.


On Monday night we had our last cooking class. Nenagh Macra would like to thank Sarah O’Meara for teaching us. We had a fantastic month of lessons.


Next Nenagh Macra meeting is Friday night in Rocky’s at 9pm. Lots of events coming up such as club basketball national talent competitons, Easter Ball, club fundraiser and young farmer event. Hope to see you all there. New members always welcome.



Devilsbit Macra


Devilsbit Macra is currently getting ready for a big club event “Macra’s Toughest Club” Saturday 29th April 2017. This is an all-day event which will start in Roscrea Rugby club with various Macra teams competing against each other in competitions such as Sheep catching , Tyre Pull and many more. This will be followed by a banquet in Racket Hall with an evening of entertainment.

Devilsbit have also just launched an event “Mental Health Talk with a Difference” which will take place in Racket Hall on Thursday 16th February. Pilgrim Hill, a 2013 rural drama film will be shown, which focuses on an isolated farmer who suffers many stresses in his life. Guest speakers from Pieta House and Emmet Middleton will then talk on his experiences on the night, followed by refreshments. The event will take place at 7.30pm, free of charge and all are welcome to attend.


Devilsbit Macra had very successful weekend last weekend raising money for Epilepsy Ireland at church gate collections in Templemore and Killea.


Miriam Crone of Devilsbit Macra has successfully claimed the county title at Titles Night for Miss Blue Jeans and will represent club and county at the Miss Blue Jeans festival. Well done to Bill Bergin and Mary Joyce who also represented our club with pride on the night also.
