Tipperary Pro-Life Event Is Vital To Counter Misinformation – McGrath

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has confirmed that he will be among those leading a Pro-Life panel discussion at the Brú Ború cultural centre in Cashel County Tipperary. Deputy McGrath will be joined at the event by Senator Ronan Mullen and Pro-Life Campaign Spokesperson Cora Sherlock and Mrs Kate Bopp on Thursday November 10th at approximately 7.15pm:

“We are really hoping that as many people as possible will attend this event, particularly in light of the relentless campaign to remove the Eighth Amendment to the constitution.

The issue of repeal is being presented in dangerously simplistic terms with no debate on what will be put in place of the Eighth or what protections will exist for the unborn child should it be removed.

It is hoped that that the event will make people aware of the radical agenda that is being pushed here by a minority of vocal TD’s in the Dáil who have no broad support for their extreme views.

I also think the event will be an opportunity to counter some of the grossly misleading information that is out there regarding aspects of the abortion debate and so called ‘fatal foetal abnormalities.’

There is a whole other perspective on this and many other matters directly pertinent to the abortion debate that is just not getting the attention it deserves.

I am firmly of the view that the public has a right to hear every side of this debate.

I know as a public representative that there are huge concerns around altering our constitution to exclude any reference to the right to life. That in my view would be a profoundly regressive move.

The event will be a civil, cordial and respectful evening and an opportunity to reflect honestly on what kind of society we want to create in terms of the pro-life debate,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
