Sara Baume – Writers/Artists workshop at The Source Arts Centre Thurles

spill simmer falter witherSara’s debut novel ‘Spill Simmer, Falter, Wither’ was described by author Joe O’Connor as “a stunning and wonderful achievement by a writer touched by greatness. It is the most powerful debut novel I have read in several years”. Spill Simmer Falter Wither, which is narrated by a lonely 57-year-old man to his misfit of a dog, made it onto the longlist for the Guardian first book award in 2015. Sara is also a visual artist and in this workshop she will look at the relationship between visual aids and writing and how both can feed off each other to enhance the development of work.

Running order (expected):

1)      Sara Baume –  intro and reading from ‘Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither’

2)      Wider context on visual aids and writing

3)      Writing session (30-40 mins)

4)      Break – Biscuits and tea

5)      Reading of pieces written in writing session, and discussion on these pieces.
