Milford’s Compassionate Communities Seed Grant Funding Scheme Now Open

Milford Care Centre’s Compassionate Communities Project supports people in the Mid-West to think and talk about death, dying, loss and care.

We believe that there is huge power and potential in our communities to care and help each other during life’s most difficult and testing times when faced with; advanced illness, end of life, death and bereavement.

Talking, acting and doing give us a better understanding of ourselves and of each other and is an excellent way to connect, grow, support and thrive.

At the heart of our project we want communities to come together to share their knowledge and develop new ideas to enable people to think and talk about death, dying and loss together.  We want you to think of a sustainable solution to an issue your community has identified.

Our seed grant Scheme can help you start a project and build awareness – what can your community do? what does your community need?

Over the last five years we have worked with groups throughout the Mid-West awarding them small amounts of money (between €200-€1000)to work on a project relevant to illness, death and bereavement.  These funds are matched by the communities through their own funding or through time and materials. So far we have had; community gardens, bereavement groups, community drama (with national aclaim), benches, art projects, garden domes, dance projects, books, and sculpture to name a few!

For further inspiration on these projects please visit the website compassionatecommunities.ie.
