The Footballers of Slievenamon – New Song by The Corrigan Brothers

Corrigan Brothers the band from Puckane County Tipp whose international hits include, ‘The Ballad of Rory McIlroy’ and ‘There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama’ are back with a song supporting the Tipp Footballers called “the Footballers of Slievnamon” which you can listen to below.

Corrigan BrothersThe brothers wrote the song with their Newport producer Pete Creighton following Tipperary’s win over Galway. Singer with the band Ger Corrigan explains “Pete   Creighton called me after the Galway match and suggested that we  rework Slievenamon and I thought it was a great idea so we sat down with Pete and re wrote the lyrics and Pete did his usual excellent job on the production as well as  changing the tempo”
 .
The brothers have recently had a very big hit in the USA with their song about Andrew Beef Johnson “Gotta love the beef”. The Beef song has received lots of airplay as well as a broadcast on NBC sports. They have been in touch with the Beef who is delighted with the song.

‘The Footballers of Slievenamon’ has just been released and the brothers hope to play it for the Tipp team when they come home with Sam in September, Ger Corrigan continued, “the Tipp team are playing with a flair and style that may take them the whole way in this years championship.We are proud of what they have achieved so far and very proud of the skill and style of the team”.

The Puckane Brothers are currently recording a new album for release in the USA next March which will include a selection of original songs as well as cover versions of the Lightning Seeds Life of Riley and the Donovans Colours.
