Roscrea’s St. Cronan’s Church restoration fund staging fundraising James Kilbane country gospel concert

St. Cronan’s Church of Ireland, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary present country and gospel singer James Kilbane in concert at St. Cronan’s church on Sunday 29th May 2016 at 8pm for a night of country and gospel.  This will be Kilbane’s first concert visit to Roscrea and this faith event is in support of church and tower restoration work.

Roscrea’s St. Cronan’s Church restoration fund staging fundraising James Kilbane country gospel concertSt. Cronan’s Church of Ireland church, Roscrea has been a focus point for the community for the past two hundred years since it was built in 1812.   The site has a very long Christian history.  This site has been of religious importance to Roscrea and surrounding land since early times as there was an earlier Christian church on the site.  Over the years a lot of work has been carried out on improvements however not since the 1960’s has any significant work been carried out.   Fifty years on the St. Cronan’s church is now in need of work to the church tower and internal restoration.

St. Cronan’s church is a very historic site and maintenance to the church and site is ongoing by members of the parish.  To help raise funds the parish are staging the Christian concert with popular country singer James Kilbane.  Kilbane since 2004 has become a popular voice on radio and television across the country with his mix of country, gospel and faith based music.  Kilbane’s home grown and easy style now attracts many from every walk of life and Christian traditions to his music.

Through his songs James tells many stories that relates to life that touch many hearts of people. In recent times his music is charting regularly on iTunes gospel music charts and recently he has been requested to perform for presidents, the Vatican, to death row prisoners as well as performing regular concerts and events across the country.  With twelve albums to date released Kilbane will sing many of his popular songs and country gospel favourites at St. Cronan’s.  If you like country music then this will be a night not to be missed and the parish look forward to welcoming many from other traditions.
