Tipperary Tourism Familiarisation Trips For Local Enterprise Week

Tourism Providers urged to network and get to know the county

With Local Enterprise Week 2016 running from March 7th to 11th, Tipperary Tourism Company, in conjunction with Tipperary Local Enterprise Office, is organising a series of familiarisation trips to assist tourism enterprises in the county in becoming familiar with tourism products available around Tipperary.
In addition to this, the Lough Derg Marketing Group is also facilitating a familiarisation trip for the tourism providers around Lough Derg Lakelands.

Speaking at the launch of the programme for Local Enterprise Week 2016, Marie Phelan, Tourism Development Officer with Tipperary County Council commented that “familiarisation events being organised by Tipperary Tourism Company will provide the tourism trade with the opportunity to get to know the county. The trips will facilitate networking, cross selling and the chance to visit attractions and amenities around the county.”

On Tuesday the 8th of March, participants will visit attractions and amenities in the north of the county and on the 9th of March the south of the county will be covered. Ms. Phelan added that “while it’s not possible to visit every tourist attraction in the county with these types of familiarisation events, it does remind and refreshes the trade with information on the product that currently exists in the county. This is very important if we want to harness the opportunity that Ireland’s Ancient East can offer. The Failte Ireland proposition for promoting the region to the domestic and international markets will showcase to visitors what to expect if they come to Tipperary.”
She added that tourists are increasingly seeking exciting experiences and the branding of this proposition which includes the “Magic of Ireland’s Ancient East, historic heartlands, land of 5000 dawns, and Celtic coast’” will inspire visitors to travel to this part of the country. “Tipperary can offer a wealth of authentic experiences to visitors with an abundance of castles, rich cultural heritage, topped off with our unique artisan and local food in County Tipperary”.

Lough Derg Marketing Group Event

On the 10th of March the Lough Derg Marketing Group will facilitate a familiarisation event for the tourism trade around Lough Derg in conjunction with the Local Enterprise Offices in Tipperary, Clare & Galway. Starting in Ballina Killaloe the trip will cover the entire circumference of the lake stopping at tourist attractions and amenities along the way. Speaking about the upcoming tourism events, Joe MacGrath, Chairperson of the Lough Derg Marketing Group commented that “in anticipation of a busy tourism season in the Lough Derg Lakelands, the familiarisation trip for Lough Derg will provide the tourism trade operating around Lough Derg with the chance to get to know new and existing products, share information and encourage cross selling across the region in Clare, Galway and Tipperary.”
During the course of each familiarisation trip, the supports and services available from the Local Enterprise Office will be promoted to participants with a presentation over lunch on how enterprises can benefit from contact with their Local Enterprise Office.
