Senior Hurling Challenge Tipperary v Thurles CBS in The Ragg

The following is the Tipperary SH team to play Thurles CBS Past Players next Sunday 17th January in The Ragg at 2pm: (Note change of venue from Holycross). This match is a fundraiser to mark the School’s Bi-Centennial Celebrations.

Newly appointed selector Conor Stakelum will join Michael Ryan (manager), Declan Fanning (coach) and John Madden (selector) for his first game with the Tipperary management team.

The Thurles CBS team will be jointly managed by Pat Henderson, Fr. Tom Fogarty and Martin Quirke.

Pat Henderson of Fenians GAA Club in Johnstown won a Dean Ryan medal (Munster under 16.5) in 1960 with Thurles CBS. He also went on to win 5 Senior All Ireland Finals as a player, 3 as manager, 2 All Stars and was Hurler of the Year in 1974.

Joining Pat will be another past pupil, Fr. Tom Fogarty from Moyne Templetuohy GAA Club, former Tipperary Manager at Minor, Under 21 and Senior level and also the Offaly Senior Hurlers. Fr. Tom currently is President of St. Patrick’s College in Thurles.

The third man on the sideline for Thurles CBS is Martin Quirke, former school Principal.
