Intel Partners With The Parkinson’s Association Of Ireland And The Irish Dogs For The Disabled As Part Of 2016 Signature Charity Campaign

At Intel we are passionate about our commitment to community involvement, charity support and volunteering in both the communities where we work and where we live.

Supporting Charities
Every year Intel Ireland selects two signature charities in order to give our employees the opportunity to dedicate their combined efforts towards providing volunteer time and funds, raised through specially organised activities, to these chosen charities. For 2016, the chosen signature charities are The Parkinson’s Association of Ireland and The Irish Dogs for the Disabled.

Employees will engage in and support a number of different activities and events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for the charities – these events include the annual Intel Charity Cycle, 5km Fun Run, Golf Classic and Family Day to name a few.

Lisa Harlow, External Relations Manager at Intel Ireland spoke about the launch of the 2016 campaign and said “Intel Ireland has a long and proud history of volunteering and supporting charities. We are delighted for Intel to this year be partnering with the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland and the Irish Dogs for the Disabled – charities that are each doing fantastic work. We are looking forward to the year ahead partnering together with them both”.
Intel has a unique initiative, the Matching Grants Program, which recognises and motivates Intel employees to engage in outreach and volunteerism by providing a cash grant to the schools, charities and other non-profit organisations where they volunteer their time. The grants are accrued based on the number of hours that are volunteered by Intel employees at organisations which are registered as part of the program. Both of the 2016 signature charities will benefit as part of this program as employees engage in volunteer activities to support the work of the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland and the Irish Dogs for the Disabled.
In 2015 over€60,000 was raised as part of the signature charity campaign which supported  the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Friends of St. Luke’s Cancer Care. All funds raised from our site wide events were distributed amongst the two charities.

Volunteering
Intel Ireland employees have a long tradition of community engagement and 2015 was no different to previous years with a total of 68,525 volunteer hours being recorded by employees across Ireland. The hours volunteered in 2015 go towards a variety of activities in the communities in which our employees live and work.
A large number of the hours volunteered by employees during 2015 are eligible to be matched through the Intel Involved Matching Grants Program whereby $10 is donated for every hour volunteered with the approved organisation. The Matching Grants Program aims to recognise and motivate Intel employees to engage in outreach and volunteerism to make our communities a better place. As a result of employee participation in the Matching Grant program, this year over 140 community organisations and schools from across Ireland received a matching grant totaling to $563,910.
