Tipperary County Council Win at National Energy Awards

  • Last night, Tipperary County Council won the Public Sector award at the National Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland awards ceremony.

  • The council was up against three other finalists, Gas Networks, DAA and An Post.

  • The council was applauded for being leaders with regard to energy management performance and in their uptake of renewable energy solutions

 

Last night (November 19th 2015) Tipperary County Council, won a national Public Sector award for its work at the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) awards.

The council was applauded for being leaders with regard to energy management performance and in their uptake of renewable energy solutions. In total there were four finalists in the Public Sector category, which was open to the public to vote for their top three leaders. Tipperary County Council fought off strong competition from household names such as Gas Networks, Dublin Airport Authority and An Post.

Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Cllr. Seamus Hanafin and Director, Matt Shortt accepted the award at a gala ceremony in Kilmainham Gaol.  Accepting the award Cllr Hanafin, said “It is an outstanding achievement for Tipperary County Council in partnership with Tipperary Energy Agency to get national recognition for its commitment to sustainable energy. There are huge benefits for the council as well as the people of Tipperary including reduced costs, providing retrofits for our own buildings and houses and reducing our carbon footprint. This award is a credit to everyone involved for all their hard work.”
