Tipperary County Council takes part in London’s historic Lord Mayor’s Show
Ireland participated for the first time ever in The Lord Mayor’s Show in London. The historic pageant, which took place over the weekend (on Saturday, 14 November), celebrated its 800th anniversary this year. Half a million people lined the streets of central London to cheer on the parade and it was watched on national television by millions more.

For the first time ever, Tourism Ireland invited Lord Mayors and Mayors from Ireland to participate in the historic event – to help showcase the island of Ireland in our largest tourism market and to further cement the relationship between Ireland and the UK. Also for the first time ever, the Dublin Lord Mayor’s ceremonial coach has left the city to appear in the ancient London pageant. The coach, which is a feature of the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in Dublin and other civic celebrations, dates from 1791.

It is another opportunity to profile the island of Ireland and to celebrate the relationship between our two islands.
