WIT/BSTAI Recognises Success of 62 Tipperary Junior Certificate A Grade Students

Waterford Institute of Technology in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland (BSTAI) are hosting a special awards night this evening for secondary school students in the South East Region who received an A grade in Junior Certificate Higher level Business Studies this year. The ceremony, now in its eleventh year will take place this (Tuesday) evening, 6 October in the Main Cork Road Campus at WIT.

62 students in the following Tipperary schools will receive awards: Scoil Mhuire, Carrick On Suir; Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel; The Abbey CBS, Station Rd, Tipperary; Loreto Secondary School Clonmel; Colaiste Dún Iascaigh, Cashel Rd; Rockwell College, Cahir; St. Anne’s, Rosanna Rd, Tipperary; High School CBS, Clonmel; CBS, Carrick On Suir; Cashel Community School; Presentation Ballingary, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

260 students from 50 schools in the region (Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow and South Tipperary) will attend the awards ceremony with their parents, business studies teachers and school principals.  The ceremony celebrates and recognises excellence in Junior Certificate Business Studies. The National President of BSTAI Ultan Henry and President of WIT Professor Willie Donnelly will present students with a scroll/certificate of achievement, and business teachers will receive recognition plaques.

Dr Thomas O’Toole, Head of the School of Business at WIT said that the evening will be an opportunity for parents, teachers and principals to celebrate the success of their students.

“This Ceremony will recognise students’ excellence, while also giving them an opportunity to view the modern campus and facilities here at WIT. In time we hope to welcome these students back to WIT as undergraduates in one of our many business courses.”
