Calling Tipperary: We Need Your ‘Donate A Library’ Nominations!
Are you involved in a local charity or community group that you think would benefit from the enjoyment that books bring? If so, here’s your chance to share your love of books and reading with a cause that’s important to you.
Bord Gáis Energy is calling on the Tipperary public for nominations for its annual Donate a Library programme, which will see seven lucky organisations throughout Ireland receive books and library equipment valued at €1500 each.
This is the fourth year of Donate a Library, through which the energy company donates books to worthy causes from local community groups to national charities. This year will see the twentieth library donated since the programme began. Past recipients include aged care facilities, schools, parish centres and support groups from all over Ireland.
Ambassador for the Donate a Library programme this year, mother of two and long-time charity campaigner, Lisa Duffy said, “Sharing a love of books and reading with people of all ages is a wonderful thing to be able to do. Charities and voluntary organisations have to focus their limited resources on so many things, so something as simple as a library might get overlooked. The Donate a Library programme is a really helpful and easy way to bring hours of entertainment to many”.
All you have to do is nominate your chosen organisation at www.bordgaisenergybookclub.ie. The judging panel consists of charity advocacy group The Wheel, Sinead Desmond from the TV3 Ireland AM book club and this year’s Donate a Library ambassador Lisa Duffy.
Claire Smith from Bord Gáis Energy said, ‘We’ve been involved in books projects now for many years and know that reading can be a really supportive and helpful resource for many people. The Donate a Library programme gives us the opportunity to offer voluntary organisations, in Tipperary and beyond, a chance to enjoy the benefits of books and reading and gives our customers the chance to help a cause that’s important to them.’
Donate a Library nominations are open now until December 18th and successful organisations will be notified in early 2016.
