Cashel jobs welcome after prolonged uncertainty – McGrath

Independent TD Mattie McGrath has welcomed the announcement of almost 300 jobs at the former Johnson and Johnson site in Cashel. Deputy McGrath was speaking after US based generic drug firm Amneal confirmed it is to take over the plant and use it as its European base for future operations:

“This announcement is excellent news for Cashel and comes after a very protracted period of uncertainty over the future operation of the plant. While it is particularly welcome for Cashel town it is also a great boost for the region. Regionally we know from the Governments own figures that the South East has suffered from significant underinvestment by the IDA, barely accounting for a fifth of the national strategic investment fund budget. In light of that I can only hope that the persistent pressure we are placing on the IDA and Minister Bruton will continue to pay dividends for the South East,” concluded Deputy McGrath.
