Tipperary Students set to Perform in the 3 Arena as part of Junk Kouture

What do Taylor Swift, One Direction and students from Clonmel all have in common? Well on the 24th of April 2015 they can all say that they have performed in the 3 Arena Dublin!

Creative teams from Presentation Secondary School and Loreto Secondary School will take to Ireland’s most prestigious stage to showcase their couture creations made from rubbish as part of Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture in association with Repak, hosted by Xpose’s Glenda Gilson.

Presentation Secondary School’s design is called Andromeda and was designed by Katelyn Owens, Mairead Cahill and Roisin Ruth. It is made from video tapes, aluminium cans and chains. Their teacher is Mairead Fennel.

Loreto Secondary School’s A Breath of Fresh Hair was designed by Shania Dowling and Aisling Kane under the watchful eye of Miss Delahunty and Ms. O’Hare. This was created from human hair that they gathered from local hairdressers. This design was a Bank of Ireland wildcard design which meant TV presenter Glenda Gilson turned up at their school to surprise the girls with a golden ticket fast-pass to the grand final!

These team’s successfully competed in the Southern regional final in March, with only twenty designs making it through to the grand final. Each team now hopes to walk away with the top prize of €2,500 for their school, iPad Minis and €500 cash for the team.

The team’s could also win a chance to walk the red carpet at the Royal Film Premiere in London or even win a Scholarship to the Limerick School of Art and Design to have their fees paid at the college for one full year of study.

Each of the grand finalists have been hand-picked by the Junk judges; model and DJ Vogue Williams; Stylist and TV Presenter, Rob Condon; design educator from L.S.A.D., Tracy Fahey; and Repak recycling awareness expert, Laura Murphy.

As well as 80 of Ireland’s finest junk designers showcasing their work with entertaining catwalk performances on the night, a host of special guests will be taking to the catwalk on the night! Warm up on the evening will be provided by Britain’s Got Talent crooner Jordan O’Keefe and comedian Fabu D before Louis Walsh’s new 6 piece boyband Hometown perform their two number 1 singles Where I Belong and Cry for Help.

Not only will Hometown be performing but there will be a chance to meet the band personally in a meet and greet session from 5pm on the day in the foyer.

And just announced – Fans of the XFactor are also in for a surprise as Louis Walsh will be on hand to judge the best performance on the night and meet and greet members of the public.

Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster.ie or Ticketmaster kiosks nationwide.

Good Luck to all teams from Co. Tipperary in the grand final.
