Venue for Fleadh Cheoil ha hÉireann 2016 announced today for Ennis

The Ardchomhairle of Comhaltas, meeting in Dublin at the weekend, awarded Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2016 to Ennis. There was very keen competition for the Fleadh with two other strong contenders in Sligo and Drogheda.
The All-Ireland Fleadh comprises a ten-day cultural festival which attracts over 300,000 people including thousands of overseas visitors. It generates €40m for the local region and will have 10,000 performers drawn from all over Ireland, Britain, North America and the world. With 420 branches and 50,000 volunteers worldwide Comhaltas offers services to 3m people annually.
Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was recently presented with the highly prestigious European Citizen’s Prize following the All-Ireland Fleadh in 2013 the first time in its 60 plus years history that the Fleadh was held in Northern Ireland.
Comhaltas pays tribute to all Fleadh applicants, highlighting their exceptional volunteerism and professionalism.
