Last Call for Adventurers to See the Sunrise over Tipperary
The booking deadline for Tipperary’s Sunrise Summit Challenge is fast approaching. All individuals, families and teams looking to join the the annual Irish Red Cross charity event are asked to sign up by 31st March 2015.
The Sunrise Summit Challenge will take place on Sunday April 12th and has routes suitable for every level of fitness and experience. Simultaneously taking place at six mountain locations across Ireland, participants across the country will hike through the early morning darkness, reaching the mountain summit in time to witness a beautiful spring sunrise.
With commanding views over the entire south-east of the country, Galtymore stands at 919 meters. The initial boggy trail makes way for a steep summit approach over red sandstone and conglomerate bedrock. Legend has it that it is inhabited by a snake banished there by St. Patrick.
Participants choose which mountain to hike from six mountains in Kerry, Wicklow, Tipperary, Mayo and Donegal. All offering a range of exciting route types. From ambling treks through beautiful woodland to more challenging hikes up steep ridges, this challenge will appeal to everyone from seasoned adventurers to Sunday hikers. Each group will be guided by specially trained Mountain Guides.
The Sunrise Summit Challenge offers a unique opportunity to take part in an unforgettable mountain adventure whilst also raising funds for the Irish Red Cross’ humanitarian work in Ireland and around the world.
